Crosspollinating science, music, learning and a love of bees...
We are calling on our community to cross-pollinate support in the final stages of creating the Amelie Ecology debut album and education kit: "Let's Bee Scientists"!
We are recording songs that inspire children (and “inner” children) to learn about and fall in love with environmental science. From soil microorganisms, to native bee diversity, to symbiosis between fungi and lichen and the importance of pollinators in every bite we eat, the album contains a whole ecosystem of learning!
The songs are inspired by Amelie’s PhD research on native bees in urban environments and the role of creative and garden-based education in nurturing a love of nature.
We are also creating a teaching and learning toolkit designed for classrooms and backyard use that will accompany the (CD) album. This will be (strawberry) jam packed with music teaching and learning resources (including chords and lyrics), alongside soil experiments, pollinator observation activities and how to make insect habitats. The resource will align with the K-6 NSW Syllabus /Australian Curriculum (KLA: Science and Technology and Creative Arts) and will be differentiated for a variety of learning styles. We hope this integration of music, science and outdoor learning will enrich students all over Australiaas little hands dig into the soil and plant the seeds of change.

We have big dreams to tour rural communities offering playful bee education through workshops and music in the future! But for now- this album is the start!
